Ellee's Hair Design - Meet the team!

MICHELLE MCKAY

Michelle Mckay is the salon’s artistic director and leads the Ellee’s art team while boasting a wealth of experience stretching over 26 years in the industry. She has worked in several top salons in Aberdeen and has an extremely busy clientele list which consists of top oil industry chiefs to young, modern students.

Michelle has been shortlisted twice in the British hairdressing awards in 2005 and again in 2007. These awards are the biggest event and award ceremony in the hairdressing industry’s calendar, which are held every November at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London. Michelle has also competed in many more competitions including the L’Oreal colour trophy. In the salon’s first year (2010), Michelle led the team to the regional finals of the L’Oreal colour trophy, where they attended the show at the Hilton hotel in Glasgow.

Michelle’s vision is to lead the Ellee’s Hair Design and art teams into the industry’s competitions, photo shoots and fashion shows. In 2010 her vision became reality but insists there is more work to be done through thorough training and making sure the team carries out their work to the perfection promised in the client charter. Michelle’s other role in the team is to educate and develop the staff in all aspects of hairdressing and customer care. If you wish to have your service carried out by Michelle then book in advance as there may at times be waiting list as she is one of Aberdeen’s busiest stylists.

LEE MCKAY

Lee Mckay is the salon’s financial director and deals with the day-to-day duties of running the salon. He is also the salon’s principal stylist, meaning he leads the team on a daily basis. Lee has been hairdressing from a young age and has built up a wealth of experience and boasts a busy clientele list. He also has built up a vast amount of industry qualifications and has also entered in several hairdressing competitions.

In late 2010 he became L’Oreal young Entrepreneur of the Year, coming as a very pleasant shock after just nine months of business for the salon. This achievement was down to the teamwork and commitment of all at Ellee’s who strive for the perfection that has been promised in the in-salon customer charter. Much was also owed to the support from L’Oreal professional for the advance training provided and to his mentors from previous employment.

Lee’s vision is to provide Aberdeen with a fresh approach to hairdressing by creating styles that suit the client and colours that go with their fashionable image. "At Ellee’s Hair Design, we are not just a normal salon but strive to commit ourselves to shows, photo shoots and competitions at all staff levels."

SARAH FORBES

Since leaving school, Sarah's ambition has been to work within the hairdressing industry. She is a bubbly, outgoing, highly skilled senior stylist with around 13 years experience. Providing clients with professional advice on hair and treatment. With her experience she has an extensive of knowledge of styles from classic to modern, with a range of colouring and cutting techniques. She aims to enter competitions and shows to widen her experience and expertise. In Sarah’s own words: "The team at Ellee's is fantastic and I love working alongside everyone."

KAYLEIGH ROBERTSON

Kayleigh is back in hairdressing with a passion and hunger to succeed. A senior member of the assistant team, her role is to show guidance to the younger member of staff and help out with advance colouring methods along with the stylists. She is also well on her way to be promoted to a stylist in the future. She has gained valuable experience and qualifications to date and has the ability and energy to develop.

DONNA REID

Head of reception, Donna has vast experience in customer care and is the first face of Ellee’s for all clients. Donna prides herself on a friendly nature and professional approach which ensures the Ellee’s experience is a premium one from the outset. With several years spent in retail, she has a forte for talking to clients, helping them relax and solving any queries they may have.

JODIE WATSON

Jodie has recently joined the Ellee’s Hair Design team and is eager to further her career with us. She is passionate about the job and hungry to succeed within the industry. Full of ambition and drive to reach her goal and become a successful hairdresser. Jodie is bubbly, kind, hardworking and very much a team player.

LYNNE MCKAY

The senior co-ordinator and receptionist, Lynne is vastly experienced in the field . She has a real love for both retail and for providing a high level of customer service. In addition, Lynne is also the unofficial Events Convener for the salon and enjoys the opportunity to get involved in the organisation of social and charity events.

MOIRA COOPER

A young and extremely talented senior hair assistant, Moira first and foremost loves hairdressing! She has demonstrated an eagerness to advance within the industry through training and educational opportunities. She gets a kick from creative challenges and loves to colour.
